The cafe’s look and feel celebrate De Bijenkorf’s refined identity and the building’s architectural grandeur. Bold shapes and monolithic volumes are balanced with translucency, crafted details, and layering of dark and light materials.
Inspired by the brand’s iconic hive pattern, a series of mesh screens intuitively divide the space and provide glimpses into the store from the outside. The retail area seamlessly transitions into the cafe, offering a diverse seating arrangement to cater to different preferences.
Patrons can choose to watch the world go by from window seats, relax in cozy banquettes, or enjoy a quick coffee at the centrally placed tables. At the back, an all-day food bar serves hot bites, sandwiches, pastries, and beverages. Retail cabinets extend into this area, serving as a scenic backdrop for the counter.
