Molini Fagioli | i-Mesh as an Architectural Textile for a Contemporary Booth

An Architectural Textile for Shaping Space

For Tuttofood Milano 2026, Molini Fagioli presents an exhibition booth designed by Riccardo Bandera as an open, permeable and highly distinctive space. At the heart of the project is i-Mesh, used both as a cladding surface and as a device for shaping the relationship between interior and exterior.

The architecture of the booth does not rely on compact volumes or opaque walls. Instead, its perimeter is articulated through a sequence of openings and lightweight surfaces that welcome visitors and guide their gaze. The i-Mesh tecnical textile contributes to creating this permeable boundary: a semi-transparent architectural solution that defines the space without interrupting its visual continuity with the surrounding exhibition environment.

It is precisely in its ability to transform a textile surface into an architectural element that the material finds its most significant expression.

A Semi-Transparent Surface between Inside and Outside

The booth’s concept stems from the idea of creating an open pavilion, conceived as a series of large openings through which visitors can engage with the world of milling and flour. Architecture thus becomes a means of communication, while retaining its own spatial dimension.

Large-scale lettering bearing the Molini Fagioli name runs along the perimeter, making the booth immediately recognizable within the landscape of Tuttofood. Integrated into the mesh, the signage transforms the brand into an architectural element, while the i-Mesh textile surface establishes a second, subtler threshold defined by perception rather than enclosure.

From a distance, the weave defines the overall volume; as visitors approach, its transparency reveals glimpses of the activity taking place inside. The result is a lightweight, semi-transparent architectural skin whose appearance shifts according to distance, light and point of view.

An Exhibition Space for the Culture of Baking

The booth combines two complementary identities: an exhibition space and a contemporary bakery conceived to host masterclasses, demonstrations and encounters with the master bakers who choose Molini Fagioli flours.

The project therefore goes beyond simply displaying a product. It creates an environment in which the culture of baking can be shared and experienced. Different functions coexist within a space designed to be explored and inhabited, transforming the booth from a conventional exhibition device into a place of interaction.

The choice of colors further contributes to this character. Wood and beige establish a warm, natural atmosphere, while red, the branding color, introduces contrasting accents. The palette evokes the world of flour and baking without resorting to literal representation.

Balancing materiality, identity and function, the i-Mesh architectural textile helps define the character of the space while keeping it visually open and connected to the surrounding exhibition environment.

The i-Mesh Weave as a Narrative Element

Within this context, i-Mesh also takes on a narrative role. Its weave visually recalls that of traditional flour sacks, translating an element rooted in the memory of the product into a contemporary surface.

The reference to the material origins of the brand is therefore not expressed through imagery, but through the texture of the architecture itself. The mesh becomes a device for articulating the relationship between tradition and innovation, between the world of food production and that of contemporary design.

The material’s lightness also makes it possible to work with the perception of space without introducing a clear visual barrier. This is particularly effective in temporary installations and exhibition design, where visibility, recognizability and flexibility are essential qualities.

Light and Transparency

Perimeter lighting completes the project and reveals the changing behavior of the textile surface. Light traces the i-Mesh weave and accentuates its presence, creating a dynamic interplay between transparency and opacity.

The characteristic filtered-visibility effect alters the perception of the boundary: from outside, the activity within remains perceptible, while from inside, the mesh maintains a visual relationship with its surroundings. The surface is therefore more than a simple cladding element; it becomes an active component in the construction of the atmosphere. Through lighting, the weave acquires greater depth and becomes an integral part of the luminous scenography.

i-Mesh, from Surface to Architecture

The Molini Fagioli project demonstrates how a textile material for architecture can perform multiple functions within a temporary space: cladding, filtering, defining boundaries, reflecting light and communicating identity.

Here, i-Mesh is not simply applied to the structure, it contributes to defining its spatial identity. The architectural mesh becomes a surface capable of creating thresholds and relationships while preserving lightness, permeability and visual continuity.

It is this ability to transform a textile weave into a genuine architectural element that makes i-Mesh particularly suited to contemporary architectural applications, from temporary installations to exhibition spaces.

At Tuttofood 2026, the i-Mesh surface thus becomes a meeting point between material and identity: a discreet yet distinctive semi-transparent boundary that interprets the world of Molini Fagioli through a new conception of space: shaped by light, texture and permeability.
